Enoch’s Faith Is… Walking in the Reconciled Reality of Jesus

Hebrews Anchor Text

Hebrews 11:5 (KJV)
“By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.”

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Enoch trusted God so much he was translated.

Enoch

  • 7th from Adam

  • complete picture of a man walking with God

  • the only other one to walk with God → Jesus

“Enoch is translated back to Eden’s code.”

We usually think rapture or heaven.

But think of translation as restoration of corrupted code.

  • We are language

  • DNA

  • information

  • sin corrupts

  • we age

  • we die

Telomeres

Protective caps → shorten → alarm → stop → decay.
Not because body wants death, but protection from corruption.

Why we don’t need extra books

Book of Enoch:

  • 300–100 BC

  • multiple authors

  • borrowed the name

  • answers speculation questions

  • dramatic, apocalyptic

But we already have:

66 books
40+ authors
thousands of years
one message
Jesus

Canon recognized, not invented.

Empires change.
Languages change.
Message doesn’t.

Jesus said:
“They are they which testify of me.”

Walked With God

Genesis 5:24
“And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”

Genesis 3:8
“They heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden…”

Humanity walked with God.

Enoch walked with God.

Problem → we can’t.

Command to Walk (but failure)

Deuteronomy 5:33
Walk in His ways.

Deuteronomy 8:6
Walk in His ways.

Deuteronomy 10:12
Walk in His ways.

But:

Micah 6:8
Walk humbly with God.

Jeremiah 11:8
They walked in stubborn evil hearts.

They can’t.
We can’t.

David

Walked with God → blessed.
Stopped walking → sin.

Jesus comes

New covenant promised → heart change.

Jeremiah 31:31–34

Jesus walking with the Father

John 5:19
The Son does what He sees the Father doing.

John 8:29
I always do what pleases Him.

Our call

John 10:27 – follow
Luke 9:23 – follow
Acts 9:2 – the Way

Big stain on church

Pastors failing where politicians succeeded.

Paul’s answer:

How do we walk in the reconciled reality?

2 Corinthians 5

5:7 – walk by faith, not sight.

What do we see?
Pain. Fear. Opinions. Ruin.

Paul gives keys.

1) See others in view of Jesus

2 Corinthians 5:16
regard no one according to the flesh.

5:14–15
He died for all.

Stop seeing:
sin
gossip
junk

Start seeing:
Christ died for them.

This kills half your stress.

Saved or unsaved → heavenly perspective.

2) See yourself in view of Jesus

2 Corinthians 5:17
new creation.

Know what you are now.

First → others.
Second → yourself.

Bible doesn’t teach self-love.
It teaches self perspective.

2 Corinthians 5:21
righteousness in Him.

3) Do the ministry & speak reconciliation

2 Corinthians 5:19

God reconciling world.
Not counting trespasses.
Message entrusted to us.

Reconciliation = translation.

Back to walking with God.

By resurrection.
By Spirit.

Example → Sabbath

Matthew 11:28–30

People running back to law because:

  • anxious

  • exhausted

  • want control

But:
That is not cross-centered faith.

A little legalism ruins everything.

What Sabbath means

Rest of God.

Adam created inside rest.

Sin broke it.

Law showed inability.

Jesus

Lord of Sabbath.

From day → to Person.

You can’t calendar into peace.

Jesus is your Sabbath.

Parents with wandering kids

Proverbs 22:6
Isaiah 55:11
Philippians 1:6

Hold on.

Walk by faith, not sight.

Your testimony → gospel planted young, ran far, couldn’t escape.

God does miracles.

Protection

Psalm 91:11–12

Your story → bombs, sirens, on knees.

Faith.

Death & presence

2 Corinthians 5:8

Lead into Carrie Carmen testimony.

Close

We are translated.

Like Enoch.

By faith.

Into walking with God in the reconciled reality of Jesus.
