What was hard about what Joseph and Mary had to do?
How did God help Joseph and Mary?
What is something scary that you can trust God to help you with?
Can you say this verse with me?
“For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
— Luke 1:37

So we talked last week about God having a big plan and job for Joseph — and for you, right?
And how awesome it was that Joseph had faith in God, even though he was scared, to say YES and trust that God would help him do big — even impossible — things!
Can anyone remind me: what is faith?
When have you done something you were afraid of?
Did you ask God for help?
After Joseph took Mary as his wife, was everything easy?
NO!
Joseph had to go on a super long, hard journey on a donkey — with a wife who was about to have a baby. Have you ever gone on a long car ride? Did you get tired? Did you ask, “Are we there yet?”
Well, a donkey would be WAY slower and bumpier, and Joseph had to walk for days! Would you be so tired?
Then there was nowhere for them to sleep. Can you imagine going somewhere far away and having nowhere safe to go or sleep? That would be scary, wouldn’t it?
And the only place they could find was a barn!
Have you ever been in a barn?
Are there any beds?
Does it smell good?
Do you think it would be nice and quiet so a baby could sleep?
No? What kinds of sounds would there be?
And then Joseph had to run away to another country because a crazy and mean king wanted to kill baby Jesus! That would be so scary and so hard!
But God gave them everything they needed.
He warned them.
He told them where to go to be safe.
He brought the wise men from far away to bring them the money they would need.
Everything!
So even though it was scary and hard, God protected them and gave them all they needed to do what He asked.
And He will do the same for you!
He will show you the way and give you the things you need to follow Him and do the big things He asks you to do.
He will always be with you.
